Located in the heart of Berlin, NumberFour is the latest venture of successful entrepreneur Marco Boerries. NumberFour builds on the foundation laid by Marcos previous products: OpenOffice (office suite), StarMoney (finance management), and Yahoo! Go (mobile internet). We are building an open platform for business application development that will create a new ecosystem for verticalized, innovative business applications.
Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure
NumberFour is looking for software engineers with a strong passion to work in this revolutionary new platform. You will be working with a team of experienced engineers in developing our server, storage and network infrastructure which runs our platform. You will drive the design and development of key components and features of the platform infrastructure.
Responsibilities
* Design and develop platform infrastructure components, including storage systems, libraries and frameworks.
* Ensure the reliability, scalability and efficiency of platform infrastructure components.
* Code primarily in Scala, Java, C/C++ and/or JavaScript.
* Conduct design and code reviews.
* Work in a dynamic team oriented environment using agile methodologies.
Requirements
* M.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
* 5+ years of strong experience in Java, Scala and/or C++ development in a Linux environment.
* Extensive experience in developing and deploying large-scale web infrastructure and distributed systems.
* Extensive software design, development, and debugging skills.
* Strong foundation in object-oriented design, functional programming, data structures, and algorithms.
* Experience with JavaScript and/or Python a plus.
* Experience with network protocols, Protocol Buffers, and/or Thrift a plus.
* Previous success in a performance-critical environment a plus.
* Strong English communication skills.
* Ability to quickly learn and apply new ideas.
