Howcast Media: Visual Designer

We’re in search of a highly talented and self-motivated visual designer who will play a major role in bringing Howcast's marketing and creative vision to life visually across the web, mobile and beyond while also communicating our strategic goals in a clear, compelling and fresh way.



ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

A person in the Visual Designer position will lead and support multiple projects through the entire development process, from initial client meetings to brainstorms and concept creations, through disciplined phases of design and into engineering.

More specifically, this person will:

  • Introduce our latest videos and features on Howcast.com and partner sites via promotional advertising
  • Identify key customer insights and experiences; define target audience, key customer segments, and opportunities for differential treatments
  • Showcase Howcast on partner sites, mobile, TV and other digital platforms
  • Promote Howcast advertising and content partnership opportunities to potential partners using fresh and creative multimedia presentations
  • Develop special partner projects, from concept to creation, including anything from promotional banners to a custom micro-site and beyond
  • Support UX team with updates and revisions for Howcast.com or any of it's product solutions
  • Maintain the overall design standards, integrity and consistency for the Howcast brand and products both on and off-site
YOUR PORTFOLIO

The ideal candidate for this position is an enthusiastic, self-motivated, talented designer who appreciates the unique opportunity to participate in a dynamic new company. Interested candidates should present a body of work that:
  • Displays a keen understanding of branding, marketing and promotions––especially in the context of web and mobile
  • Exhibits stylistic breadth, pixel perfect attention to detail, and balances beauty and innovation with usability
  • Has a strong, demonstrated understanding for typography, color theory and layout
  • Proves competence through design execution
  • Shows experience in working through complex design problems and providing sound strategic design solutions

SPECIFIC SKILLS

  • Minimum of 3 years experience designing consumer-oriented web & mobile promotions/websites
  • Must be dependable, detail-oriented, able to work both autonomously and as part of a team, and possess the ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Able to take ownership of projects that have little direction and turn around stunning, creative solutions with very few cycles of iteration
  • Expert proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and other web design tools
  • An unhealthy obsession with design consistency across the entire web site
  • An innate understanding of human-computer interaction and user flow
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • A desire to be personally responsible for maintaining the design integrity of a highly dynamic and constantly evolving brand
  • A preoccupation with staying on top of web design & marketing trends and the latest techniques
