Description: An eCommerce company headquartered in Manhattan is looking to fill a 3 - 5 month contract position for a LAMP software engineer to assist in the maintenance of its existing software platform and to be a major contributor in the development and launch of its reengineered and re-architected 2.0 release. At the end of the contract period there may be the possibility of full-time employment depending on candidate performance and business needs.
Candidate will be tasked with working with existing development team under the direction of the VP of Engineering to assist in the maintenance of the existing software platform and to write original, highly portable code as a component of the new platform development effort. Candidate must be intimately familiar with and capable in all major areas of software engineering focus, including OOP, design patterns, software life-cycle process, version control and team-oriented development. Candidate must be passionate about his or her work, be deadline oriented and have the careful attention to detail required in maintaining and developing a heavily trafficked, best-of-class web software platform.
Required Skills:
3+ Years PHP 5+ OOP Development
MySQL 5 or PostgreSQL 8+
Apache 2+
2+ Years Drupal 6+ - We are migrating from a Drupal codebase; candidate MUST be proficient in its use and extension
Javascript / CSS / XHTML
Linux Experience (Ubuntu or Debian Preferred)
Experience with at least one MVC Framework (PHP Preferred, but Java or Python will be considered)
Version Control Competence (git or svn)
Task Management / Trac / Basecamp / Redmine
