The Associate Product Manager of Business Products and eServices is approximately $14 million in annual sales, is very profitable, and has enormous growth potential. The ideal candidate is someone who can come in and 1) evaluate the current product portfolio (which is quite dated) and determine where innovation needs to occur and where an exit strategy makes sense, and 2) analyze the competitive situation and put forward a new go-to-market strategy for how Deluxe approaches this vertical market in the future. Candidates with
brand / product marketing and management experience is particularly applicable. MBA desired, but will be waived as a requirement for an outstanding candidate. This is a high profile position in the company due to the renewed focus on this particular customer segment. Salary is commensurate with Associate Brand Manager positions at Consumer Packaged Goods companies.
ROLE
The Associate Product Manager of Business Products and eServices has P&L responsibility for the Healthcare (Filing, Time Keeping, Appointment Reminders, Forms, etc) and Compliance and Professional Office (Accountants, Lawyers) product lines. The APM will develop and implement the annual strategy and operating plan each year. The APM serves as the voice of the consumer and the product lines across the Deluxe organization. The APM works with multiple cross-functional teams to execute programs and tactics to drive the business. In addition, the APM works to sell products through direct (call center & direct mail catalog) and indirect (dealers and distributors) channels.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Business Analysis and Planning
â?¢ Contribute to the development of the annual business plan for the healthcare, compliance and office supplies product line. These products include filing systems, time management systems (appointment books), payment systems (invoices), and promotional items (bags, magnets, etc)
â?¢ Identify key issues and make recommendations to director for consideration in future planning.
â?¢ Drive efficiencies throughout the business to improve margins and enhance processes.
â?¢ Deliver required revenue and profit to the company via excellence in marketing strategy, planning, and execution.
Product Line Evolution & Customer Understanding
â?¢ Thoroughly understand current product mix and identify enhancements or improvements that improve competitive positioning.
â?¢ Research and identify customer needs to support the development of new or improved products. Participate in and help execute new product development initiatives.
â?¢ Conduct detailed market analysis and work with market research to acquire market knowledge necessary to make sound decisions regarding the business.
â?¢ Analyze customers and competitors and stay on top of market trends.
Drive Marketing Strategy and Execution
â?¢ Apply knowledge of the "4 P's" of marketing to create and execute individual product plans. Make recommendations regarding the optimal marketing mix.
â?¢ Create an annual marketing calendar and other tools that outline and track product initiatives.
â?¢ Analyze pricing opportunities and implement in appropriate channels. Determine the impact of pricing changes and apply learning to future changes.
â?¢ Explore current and new distribution channel optimization scenarios. Thoroughly understand the role of the Internet in building the small business community and driving revenue growth.
â?¢ Measure the results of product initiatives and make recommendations regarding future implementations.
â?¢ Collaborate with marketing services team to implement effective promotion strategies and programs for assigned products. Participate in creative brainstorming sessions to generate new ideas and approaches.
â?¢ Review merchandising in all advertising channels to ensure proper positioning and accuracy.
â?¢ Business may evolve into a marketing service for small practices to get new customers, or to maintain their current customer base (HIPA issues). Need to be both product and service savvy.
Communicate Objectives Across the Business
â?¢ Serve as liaison with key stakeholder groups across the company to move product initiatives forward.
â?¢ Responsible for coordinating project teams of functional experts to accomplish project goals.
â?¢ Serve as liaison to Sales for product training tools and content across all channels.
Required
Education/Experience:
â?¢ MBA preferred. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, marketing, or product management required.
â?¢ 5+ years experience in consumer packaged goods, small business services, e-commerce, or retail environment required.
â?¢ Requires thorough knowledge of marketing process and marketing analytics / reporting.
â?¢ Requires expertise in multi-channel go-to-market techniques to maximize reach and market share.
â?¢ Background in healthcare, printing, office supplies, online marketing or direct marketing helpful but not required.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
â?¢ Strong leadership potential desired; this position has a career path to Director and VP level roles.
