The User Experience Designer will do it all: GUI design, prototypes, wireframes, design specifications, design goals, information architecture, user research. You will interact daily with engineering, product management, content, and marketing teams to produce the objectives, style, and detailed design of our customer facing sites for administrators, professors, and students.



Specific Responsibilities:

~Lead the design effort from conceptualization through implementation including translating user requirements into highly usable web applications in partnership with other UX designers, engineering, content writers, and product management

~Design wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes to effectively communicate the user experience of features to internal stakeholders and project team members

~Produce high quality GUI elements and ensure usability and aesthetic quality of interfaces

~Conduct user research and informal usability studies of prototypes and existing products

~Create, document, and evangelize new user interface guidelines, libraries, and standards

~Ensure a consistent look and feel, and experience across the applications

~Contribute to a consistently high standard of user-centered design across products

  Basic Qualifications Required:

~Bachelor’s degree in HCI, design or related discipline

~Minimum 2 years user experience design

~Proven experience designing customer facing interface

~Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and best practices

~Experience creating prototypes using Adobe Creative Suite

~Experience researching and creating user workflows using Omnigraffle or Visio

~Knowledge or familiarity with user research, usability testing

~Experience in engineering or collaboration with an engineering team

~Excellent visual and oral/written communication skills

~Passion for and demonstrated knowledge of user-centered design


Preferred Qualifications

 ~Master’s degree in HCI, design or related discipline

~Additional software/platform experience: Flash, Mobile

~Experience with use cases, user stories, and other documentation

~Industry experience (educational technology, elearning, online publishing or similar)

~Portfolio and case studies should show evidence of simple, elegant design and application of interaction design best practices
