The Teachers' Curriculum Institute: Lead Developer

Our company?s mission is to develop K?12 social studies programs that help teachers reach all students in the diverse classroom. Each day we create innovative, engaging, and fun activities for students, including a market leading web-based solution that we are ready to take to the next level. We have a vision of how we can build on our existing technology to redefine the teaching and learning experience, and we?re looking for a lead developer to bring that software development in-house. This hands-on role will lead on establishing TCI?s agile software development process and help to build the team which will bring our new technology vision to the classroom.

Job Description:
  • Helping to establish and maintain TCI?s software development team and process
  • Developing and maintaining Ruby on Rails applications
  • Developing and maintaining Adobe AIR applications
  • Representing software development issues to strategic management teams
  • Working with IT team to manage source code, services requests and updates
  • Overseeing refactoring and ensuring scalability of the system as usage increases
Job Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional web development experience using scripting-language-based frameworks such as Ruby/Rails.
  • A demonstrated track record in developing cutting-edge, consumer web applications with Ruby on Rails
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • A strong communicator, with strong interpersonal skills that thrives in a team-based environment
  • Experience with automated testing and test driven development
  • Experience developing for mobile, the desktop (Objective C, Android, Java, Flex, AIR)
  • Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent
