Lead QA Engineer

So, what do we do? We develop and test software in small autonomous project teams using an agile approach. At Analyte Media, QA Engineers arent second class citizens. Youll be programming alongside Software Engineers and youll have an equal say in how your project develops. Youll write test frameworks, build your own test environments, get involved in technical investigations and advise on how to address performance issues or specific bugs. In general we are testing e-commerce sites and web applications, back-end web services, and web service integrations. Our engineering team uses test driven development, we write unit tests, and develop automated functional tests using Selenium.
You would be our first full-time QA engineer and we would be looking to you to help us grow the department.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Meet with the Chief Technologist and Product Manager (customer) to develop cards and
document acceptance test cases.
2. Manually execute test cases and update the results on an ongoing basis until the
verification of a story is complete.
3. Automate GUI test cases and automate back-end tests.
4. Create and manage load, performance, and stress tests.
5. Manage known issues from the bug tracking system and provide Customer Service with
updates that can be fed into the knowledge base.
6. Assist with escalations for customer issues that are presented by Customer Service.
7. Spearhead new QA initiatives as they are presented.
About Your Qualifications:
1. A master in the arts of verbal and written communication, with demonstrated ability to
describe tricky bugs and collaborate with other software developers.
2. Experience testing web applications and web services written on the LAMP stack with the
following components: Linux, Nginx, Tornado, Python, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript,
(X)HMTL, Django, Subversion, memcached, Xen/VMWare, some Windows components,
etc.
3. An understanding of agile development and the role of QA in an agile development
environment.
4. Knowledge of unit/functional tests that reproduce and isolate bugs.
5. Bonus points for experience with Django, Selenium using Ruby, and load testing.
