Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences is seeking an Assistant Director of Alumni Development for their Kansas City, MO location. The Assistant Director of Alumni Development assists in the attainment of fundraising and participation goals; plans and executes a variety of programs and/or events; and serves as liaison for various alumni programs.

Responsibilities:


Assists in the attainment of fundraising and participation goals (annual programs, Capital Campaign, events, etc.).
Solicits contributions [correspondence, personal visits {national travel}, phone calls] and cultivates positive relationships (developing contacts, conducting appointments, requesting donations, recording progress/success, drafting proposals, following-up, ensuring confidentiality, etc.)
Contributes to the accurate and timely maintenance of the Prospect Management process (recording prospect status ranking, updating records of interactions [personal visits, e-mails, phone calls, etc.], coordinating with other team members, moving donors to next level of solicitation, etc.).
Organizes and coordinates prospect identification (utilizing Internet tools, conducting research, serving as a contact point for outside vendor analysis, reviewing data, directing information to appropriate Advancement personnel, etc.).
Coordinates alumni events [dinners, receptions, reunions, luncheons, tournaments, conventions, meetings, etc.] (contacting vendors, negotiating contracts, promoting events [designing/developing invitations, flyers, announcements, etc.], handling all logistical arrangements [decorations, room layout, food/menus, entertainment, audio/visual, etc.], directing volunteers/ambassadors, managing registration, etc.).
Oversees the planning, design, and execution of representation at national and state conventions [including all related activities] (managing on site logistics, coordinating staff support, overseeing mailings and booth preparations, promoting the University, etc.)
Manages mentoring program (recruiting mentors, linking students with mentors, managing database, organizing meetings and forums, providing support, etc.).
Serves as liaison for various alumni programs (monitoring alumni's civic activities, collecting data, coordinating communications, acknowledging special occasions [monitoring state and specialty publications for items of interest], recording and tracking alumni involvement and leadership, recognizing alumni [sending appropriate recognition, coordinating mementos, etc.], etc.)
Contributes to team effort by performing other duties as needed/assigned.

Required Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field. Equivalent experience may substitute for education.
Two years sales and/or direct sales and marketing experience. Two years higher education or fund raising experience preferred.
Able to travel 30%
