Marvel Entertainment, LLC: Senior Web and Mobile Application Developer

As a Sr. Web/Mobile Developer, you will help Marvel enhance its position in the web and mobile marketplace by extending already successful products and spearheading the development of new ones. 

The successful candidate will have a deep knowledge of both web and mobile development and a strong understanding of the interplay between the mobile web, the traditional web, web services and native mobile applications.  This position will report to the Sr. Director of Web Development and interface extensively with other team members in the design, product management, content and development groups. 

Responsibilities:

-          Software design, development and implementation of Web and mobile applications using PHP, Java, JavaScript, HTML, XML and Web Services for a LAMP environment.

-          Software design, development and implementation of mobile applications using Android SDK, iPhone SDK, J2ME, or Symbian

-          Work with traditional software lifecycle methodologies: Create design documents when and as required.? Perform coding, debugging and testing.?

-          Define the integration between proposed development projects and existing systems, software and hardware

-          Consider and research emerging technologies to improve current applications, architectures and processes

-          Participate in design brainstorming sessions, technical design reviews, formal code reviews, bug triage, and functional walkthroughs.

-          Work in a collaborative development environment, providing assistance & technical guidance to less experienced team members

 

Qualifications:

-          3+ years hands-on experience with PHP and the LAMP environment

-          2+ years hands-on experience with Java, Objective C and other common mobile programming languages

-          3+ years hands-on experience with Web services such as SOAP, REST and XML-RPC

-          Demonstrated experience creating integrated mobile and Web experiences

-          Ability to clearly deftly and clearly communicate both in writing and verbally to the technology team and to non-technical members of the larger organization

-          Strong sense of ownership and urgency

-          Ability to juggle multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines

-          Strategic critical thinker who also has a high attention to detail
