As a Web
Software Architect, you will help define the architecture for Marvel?s
interactive digital products, consisting primarily of the Marvel.com collection
of Web sites and various mobile offerings. You will be involved in the design
and development of cutting-edge Web applications, defining system architecture
to achieve scalability and reliability goals, and researching new technologies
for our evolving business systems.
The
successful candidate will be skilled at understanding and communicating the
technical capabilities and potential of the various software and hardware
platforms used in Marvel?s digital product solutions. This position will
interface extensively with counterparts in the corporate information technology
group and take direction from the Sr. Director of Web Development to identify
emerging technologies and evaluate their value and impact on Marvel?s digital
products.
Responsibilities:
- Assist
Sr. Director of Web Development in defining system architecture to achieve
scalability and reliability goals
- Research
and advise on new technologies for the editorial and business systems,
particularly pertaining to frameworks and development
processes
- Manage
and contribute to larger-scale aspects of project development, including coding
and documentation standards, data modeling and implementing best
practices
- Create a
variety of documentation including application architecture, data models, coding
standards
Qualifications:
- 5+ years
hands-on experience with PHP and the LAMP environment
- Broad
knowledge of other programming languages, including Java,
C
- Demonstrable
experience providing technical leadership on large-scale development projects
for Web and other platforms.
- Ability
to clearly deftly and clearly communicate both in writing and verbally to the
technology team and to non-technical members of the larger
organization
- Strong
sense of ownership and urgency
- Ability
to juggle multiple projects, set priorities and meet
deadlines
- Strategic
critical thinker who also has a high attention to detail
