Android Framework Engineer
Position Description:
The Android Framework engineer will work with other Android development engineers to design, implement, debug one or more Android middleware frameworks. These framework provide new or enhanced functionality in the areas of SMS, MMS, IM, Email, etc. These frameworks use one or more internet protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS, TCP etc. Many of these frameworks are to be implemented in Java (android); a small minority of them require some native implementation in C/C++.
Qualification
The qualified engineer will have worked a minimum of 12 months in Android middleware - either developing or maintaining new or existing components. The engineer is expected to have a high degree of expertise (knowledge) in the existing Android frameworks. The engineer is expected to function independently and exercise their own judgement in design decisions. They are usually told what to accomplish and should be capable of producing tangible output independently in a deterministic fashion.
Mandatory skills include strong fundamentals in programming, data-structures, debugging, problem isolation, multi-threaded programming. Expertise in Android Java is required, knowledge of C/C++ programming including JNI is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will be very comfortable working daily in a Linux environment for design, and development. The best candidates will have intimate knowledge of Android Linux and exhibit innate curiosity about computers and programming.
