Overview:
Barnes & Noble.com is seeking a ETL developer to maintain and enhance systems for creating, converting, securing and managing data flow into the data warehouse system. Experience in the Perl development filed also familiar with Unix Shells and strong SQL skills. Posses the ability to meet sensitive deadlines, manage time, and assume ownership of responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Architecture, design, development, and implementation data warehouse ETL projects.
Support testing, deployment and ongoing support of data warehouse system.
Work with Reporting team to build marts and tables to optimize reporting performance
Develop & Support ETL process
Qualifications:
Good knowledge of Perl 5.10.1 - OOPerl Programming, Regular Expressions, File Handling, FTP, DBI, Inter Process Communications, System Programming
Candidate should be fully proficient in writing scalable, high volume ETL jobs using SQL and Perl for large volume data warehouses
Knowledge of Data Warehousing such as dimensional modeling, Star and Snowflake schemas, Data mart and Fact, Dimension tables, Slowly Changing Dimensions -Type I & II & III.
Troubleshoot and resolve data, system issues and performance issues.
Ability to analyze and resolve performance issue with database code involving SSIS and MS SQL server.
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn complex technologies
BA/BS, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science or related technical discipline
Must be a self-starter and willing to take initiative
Should be ready for for 24 * 7 On Call responsibility
