One of the nation's top cancer research hospitals in Southern California seeks a part time remote/telecommuting Senior Web Application Developer in the San Diego Area to join our Research Informatics Systems Engineering team, a multidisciplinary group that works closely with clinical and basic research experts to develop solutions that aid in our fight against cancer. While this is a telecommuting position, candidate needs to be in the San Diego / Escondido / La Jolla area for face to face interaction with one of our development leads in the area. This is a flexible, part-time position that provides partial benefits with the possibility of evolving into a full time position in the future.


You must have:

- strong object oriented development and design skills
- solid VB.Net and/or C# and ASP.NET experience
- HTML/CSS/Javascript
- transact SQL and Microsoft SQL Server experience
- disciplined approach to source control and deployment
- good written, verbal, and analysis skills
- five years of experience in all of the above
- A bachelors degree in Computer Science / Information Systems or equivalent work experience


The following skills/experience are a strong plus:

- SCRUM or Agile Development
- ASP.NET MVC
- AJAX/JQuery
- XML web services / SOA
- Object Relational Mapping
- Enterprise vocabularies
- IIS administration / data security
- LINQ
- Unified Modeling Language / CASE tools
- Business Workflow Engines
- healthcare / research experience
- experience working with large datasets

The tasks required for the position will vary over time, but include:

- Working with analysts and architects to build and design new systems in the clinical trials and basic research spaces in a model driven workflow
- Maintenance of existing dot.net applications and processing user change requests
- Refactoring existing codebases
- Working with users in ascertaining functional requirements
- Creating unit tests for existing applications
