Do you love writing software?  Have you been doing it professionally for 3-5 years?  Do you learn new languages and work on side projects in your spare time? We should talk.

At Mint Digital we are obsessed with building great software and learning as much as we can about the craft while we do it. Our core beliefs:

Creating software should be a fun process.  We've been working in Rails for four years, and it's been a blast.  Every year, we head off somewhere remote, split into teams and compete for a week in building something cool.  We use whatever tools will help us solve the problem at hand in the best possible way.  Our current toolset includes: Ruby, Rails, MySQL, Chef, Redis, Resque, Ubuntu, nginx and git.

But at the same time it's serious business.  Although we're having fun, we take our responsibilities to our customers and to the products we create for them very seriously.  This is true both collectively, and individually.

A software developer must constantly be learning.  If you're still doing things the same way you did two years ago, or even last year, then you're in danger of letting the industry pass you by.  All of our staff are sent to industry conferences, and provided with training on a regular basis.  Although we're known primarily as a Ruby / Rails shop, we're constantly playing with new tools (Scala, Erlang, JS, and Objective-C have been recent obsessions for various Mint devs).

We all have a responsibility to help those less experienced than ourselves.  Those of us who are experienced developers can all look back on mentors who helped us along the way.  It's the nature of life that we can never really repay those mentors, so the only thing we can do is help  others to develop their skills as well.  At Mint many of our "junior" developers have moved into senior roles in the last two years, and we're very proud of this aspect of our culture.

We're looking for an experienced developer who's passionate about software, and skilled at producing it.  We're not obsessed with the specifics of your experience.  It's obviously nice if you have some interest in / experience with Ruby, but if you've been working in C/C++, or Java, or C#, or Lisp, or Python, or any number of other languages, you may be a good fit at Mint.  It takes about 3 months for a good dev to become proficient with our current toolset, and it can take years to become a good dev.  We understand this.  If you think you'd fit in here, please drop us a line with your CV and a short personal email explaining why you think we'd be good for each other.  We look forward to speaking with you.

Apply: Send short email and CV/resume to jobs@mintdigital.com.
