The Position: Software Engineer
Boston.com is looking for a creative and motivated software engineer. You will be part of a team that works on one of the largest regional sites in the country. Most new development work will be done in a Java/J2EE environment. Experience developing with well known Apache frameworks (Struts, Velocity) and component technologies (Hibernate, iBatis, Tapestry, Quartz, etc.) preferred. A passion for new technologies and a drive to find better ways to produce interactive online content is key.
Requirements:
· A Computer Science degree, or equivalent industry experience
· Deep knowledge of application server and servlet container (Tomcat, GlassFish)
· Experience with content management systems a plus.
· Proven experience in designing, developing, and releasing Java-based products with a continuous release lifecycle; high performance, high availability products.
· Expert knowledge of Linux development and deployment environments
· Familiarity with an additional language such as Python, Ruby, PHP, etc.
· Community awareness (online resources, frameworks, etc)
