Summary Description:
The Data Warehouse Consultant leverages data warehouse technical knowledge to promote sales of Teradata data warehouse and Teradata solutions within the Retail Industry. Advises on the implementation and maintenance of the database environment. Primary function is to provide support during the sales motion on the set up for a Teradata database environment. Subjects could include runtime optimization, capacity management and planning, security, configuration, scheduling, and execution of maintenance utilities. The use of major tools including Teradata WinDDI, Teradata Manager, Teradata Query Manager, and Teradata's Priority Scheduler. In addition, you must be able to promote the value proposition around partner tools (ETL, BI, etc.) Understands user tables and permissions.
Additional skills include high level understanding of the processes and integration for extract, cleanse, transform, and load. Must have the ability to understand the overall requirements and advise on them during the sales cycle. This individual may have design skills in one particular area, such as designing the extract of data from the source system, or may be proficient in designing the load routine or may have the skills to design all areas of ECTL. This consultant may provide thought leadership in the selection and implementation of data transformation tools required to satisfy business and technical requirements.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
-Transforms Teradata strategy into profitable results by executing business plans and obtaining results that increase revenue, market share and contribution margins
-Establishes realistic operational plans, budgets & productivity goals designed to achieve profitable growth of practice(s).
-Effectively manages expenses and makes investments to achieve project and overall practice(s) profitability.
-Improves industry specific hardware/software results by working to pull through hardware/software sales as a result of services projects.
-Promotes and understands the value of Knowledge Management. Creates an environment where reuse of Knowledge Assets is leveraged to enhance margins and productivity.
-Promotes the Value of and Leverages Partner relationships to enhance the Teradata service offering and customer base penetration.
CUSTOMER MANAGEMENT
-Provides leadership in analyzing alternatives, understanding customer problems/needs across the entire services continuum.
-Establishes & builds mutually beneficial business relationships which includes: establishing & developing customer contacts, being responsive to their needs, understanding their political environment, & managing the relationship to ensure customer satisfaction.
-Manages customer's expectations of the engagement & relationship with PS and Teradata
-Defines engagement strategy, objectives and scope as well as sets, approves and manages the terms and conditions of all Professional Services Engagements
SELLING SOLUTIONS & SERVICES
-Provides thought leadership to their organization to understand the role and value-add of consulting services within the context of the solution environment. Transfers knowledge about PS business to Solution Teams. Promotes Teradata solutions to enhance the data warehouse environment.
-Analyzes service opportunities and pursues revenue-producing business aligned with Teradata's strategic direction.
-Effectively promotes consulting services and Teradata in client meetings and discussions.
-Identifies new/unusual risk areas and proposes solutions. Consistently proposes solutions which successfully reduce/mitigate risk to Teradata while meeting challenging customer requirements.
SERVICE/INDUSTRY EXPERTISE
-Demonstrates an understanding of external factors affecting clients in their industry.
-Anticipates functional, industry, and technical issues and develops sound strategies that are consistently implemented by the client.
-Effectively supports business development of services, industries & technical specialization.
PRACTICE LEADERSHIP
-Establishes an annual business plan that supports the funnel activity and delivery commitments. Plan reflects the appropriate skill mix, contractor ratio and resource utilization to realize optimal absorption of human resources
-Understands and influences the strategic vision of the practice and implements practical action plans to attain it.
-Promotes new initiatives, acting as a catalyst for change and stimulating others to make changes and improvements
-Is a driver behind and is responsible for operational effectiveness of the organization including business operations processes, program management, reporting and problem solving.
CONSULTANT DEVELOPMENT
-Sets objectives that align with Solution Team/Business Unit/Teradata objectives.
-Builds capabilities and provides thought leadership and coaching to associates.
-Provides systems and tools to enable associates to make effective business decisions.
-Manages practice resources to achieve appropriate mix and meet practice growth goals.
-Recruits, assimilates, develops, and retains associates with the required qualifications, experience and motivation to support the practice's strategic vision.
-Manages contractual agreements to beneficial conclusion for Teradata

10 or more years in Information Technology (or equivalent). Minimum of five years as an internal or external consultant with broad exposure and experience in a variety of circumstances for data warehousing.  Retail experience preferred. Experience in working in a Systems Integrator/ Big 4Consulting Firm with a proven track record of driving demand in solutions and services is a plus. Hands-on general or management experience in a number of business disciplines such as consulting services, marketing and sales, project management, information technology, financial management, business operations, and software development, with proven ability to develop and integrate plans.
