In this position, you will be leading the team of software engineers responsible for developing the Information Retrieval and Data Mining portions of the product module. You will be working on tools that allow our customers to create complex, highly scalable, multi-channel service knowledge bases and web sites, and to facilitate and analyze user interactions with these sites. Candidates for this position must have the ability to take complex requirements and lead a team to produce high performing, reliable solutions based on leading technology and practice in the field.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage a small team of developers
Motivate and inspire consistent performance and productivity
Set priorities and manage activities
Represent the team within the company (especially to rest of Development, Product Development, and Sales) and to customers and analysts
Grow the team through quality hires
Write and design code
Develop and maintain components in C/C++/PHP/Javascript/SQL/...
Develop and maintain design documents for features/areas that your team owns
Manage projects
Work with all project stakeholders, including other areas of development and other departments, to develop project plans
Communicate status to all stakeholders
Drive projects to successful, on-time completion
Work with Product Management to set strategy and direction
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Background
Following are the required knowledge, skill set, abilities, and background needed:
7+ years of professional software development experience
3+ years experience managing a team of software engineers
MS or PhD in artificial intelligence, information retrieval, or related area and extensive experience with machine learning, natural language, and/or data mining software
Knowledge of the state of the art in search technology and AI applications
Experience building massively scalable, multi-tier web applications
Experience with object oriented design principles, patterns and practices
Proficiency at programming in C/C++ and SQL
Track record of on-time delivery of quality software components
A broader set of technology skills, such as: XML, XSLT, AJAX, PHP, Python, Unix/Linux development, LAMP stack, etc.
Good written and oral communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to successfully lead a team of developers
Demonstrated ability to produce clean, well-designed code
Track record of on-time delivery of quality software products
Experience gathering, writing and communicating detailed designs
Ability to work well under pressure to complete tasks under tight deadlines.
