A new era in data management is upon us. Cloudera's products and
services -- built on the open source Apache Hadoop platform -- will
fundamentally change the game in data storage, processing and
analysis.
We're looking for a talented Ops Engineer to join our team. If you're
a Linux guru who respects but doesn't fear the root prompt, eats
7-layer cake for breakfast, and understands n when n is large, we'd
love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
● Serve as the primary contact for questions regarding network gear
and services such as but not limited to WiFi, VPN, DHCP, DNS,
LDAP, printers, SIP phones and security systems
● Manage user accounts and access to network services
● Ensure that all critical systems have appropriate data and power
backups
● Manage physical access to building through an S2 security system
and biocrypt readers
● Assist in building out Linux clusters for testing and Q.A.
● Make recommendations and manage purchasing IT equipment such as
laptops, monitors and printers
Required Skills
● Deep understanding of Linux deployment, configuration, management
and networking
● Experience managing routers, switches and WiFi APs as well as a
fundamental understanding of networking (e.g. ARP, ICMP, 7-layer
OSI model)
● Understanding of Windows and MacOS operating systems as clients
accessing network services
● Fluency in at least one scripting language like shell or Python
● Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
● Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
● Ability to work in a fast paced, test-driven, agile and
collaborative work environment
Strong Plus
● Experience with Asterisk PBX systems and Polycom SIP phones
● Regularly use source control software like git or subversion
● Previous experience managing Windows Active Directory
● Working knowledge of S2 security and biocrypt systems
● Experience with Amazon Web Services such as ec2 and s3
