Senior Information Architect at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Online in Glendale, CA

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Online is currently seeking a Senior Information Architect to join our diverse, dynamic and dedicated User Experience team. This senior role will primarily work on a next generation product designed to enhance the experience of guests in the park. The position is located in Glendale, CA with the possibility of travel to our Orlando offices. At WDPRO, Senior Information Architects ("IAs") work closely with the Creative Director, Visual Designers, Content Strategists, Writers, Product Managers, Technical Producers, Engineers and other IAs as a part of a collaborative team in order to deliver a "magical" experience to our guests that also meets the business goals for various Business Units. Major Responsibilities: ?Lead the Information Architecture effort for a high priority project with many stakeholders. Create cutting edge, guest friendly interaction designs that can be utilized on multiple devices. ?Participate in multi disciplinary project teams, often acting as a liaison between the Creative, Technology, and Vendor teams. ?Responsible for the creation of consistent information hierarchies and guest experiences on cross-device ?Develop detailed navigation flows, site maps, user stories, wireframes and interface design/functional specifications that capture site processes, requirements, and all user interaction points with the system ?Accurately estimate effort required for project specific work ?Understand guest needs by participating in user research efforts and creating prototypes when needed. ?Contribute to business requirement/ user story definitions by analyzing and reconciling user, business, and technical needs ?Write or contribute to the development of use cases and business process flows ?Define over-arching creative vision for projects in collaboration with Creative team ?Contribute to efforts surrounding the standardization and streamlining of IA documentation and IA processes for WDPRO ?Actively participate in mentoring efforts for other Information Architects in the department. Required Qualifications: ?Advanced/ Master?s degree in Human Computer Interaction, Library and Information Science, Interaction Design or a related field ?At least 10 years as a web-based information architect, user interface/ experience/ interaction designer or analyst ?Experience working complex sites that integrate database or CMS driven content, application-like functionality (calendars, personalization tools), or e-commerce processes ?Solid background with web technologies including a basic understanding of the technical systems and architecture which underlie dynamic websites ?Ability to act as the usability and user experience evangelist on the project and advocate for processes that benefit the user. Experience persuading and educating project teams about best practices and heuristics. ?Excellent visual/ verbal communicator with a demonstrated strong creative vision for organizing interactive information systems ?Extremely detail-oriented, flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment ?Familiarity with conducting or overseeing usability sessions, task analysis, heuristic evaluation, rapid prototyping, persona workshops, and other methods of user needs/ goals analysis ?Portfolio presentation is expected, to include URLs of websites or samples of user interface design that reflect candidate?s work as well as documentation that led to the site, including wireframes, site maps, navigation flows, interaction design specs, etc. Additional Desired Qualifications: ?Experience designing solutions for multiple device types(mobile, web, interactive television) or cross-device sites. ?Experience working with interactive prototyping tools like iRise, Axure, etc. ?Experience in media software applications such as Flash, QuickTime, and Director ?Professionally active (ongoing professional reading, association memberships, listserv participation and/ or conference attendance) in groups such as AIA, ASIST (SIG-IA), ACM (SIG-CHI), IXDG, IAI, AIGA, etc.
