DATABASE DEVELOPER
Candidates need 5+ years of heavy database experience with the recent involvement with MYSQL. Current databases are Oracle but some will migrate to MYSQL, therefore previous experience with Oracle and/or MS Sql Server is a big plus.
Design scalable database schemes while at the same time ensuring that databases perform well and are scalable. The database engineer will be working extremely closely with application to make sure they can query the data they need quickly.
This Engineer will also be expected to give guidance in best practices.
Requirements
Strong MySQL
Experience with large scale web systems (multiple MySQL databases running in the cloud and in a managed data-center)
Experience in operations of the servers such as job-scheduling (using cron or equivalent), data-movement, data-conversion, automation and monitoring
Experience with large scale database applications using partitioning/federation/sharding/proxying/replication, index tuning, I/O tuning
Has implemented highly available systems using replication and clustering
Administer and support existing databases while assuring optimized performance, stability, monitoring, uptime, data integrity
Strong understanding of master-slave/master-master replication, MySQL engines, index optimizations
Strong understanding of sync, replication, backups, recovery and clustering of databases
Strong SQL skills. Strong ability to generate ad-hoc reports using SQL scripts; will be the keeper of the data and be confident in its integrity
Experience managing database in an online environment
Experience with maintaining databases across multiple data centers
