The Southern Poverty Law Center, a leading civil rights organization located in Montgomery, Ala., seeks a content producer for SPLCenter.org, Tolerance.org and other web initiatives.
As a member of the online production team, the content producer will work closely with editorial and technical staff to produce content. The producer also resolves site changes and helps plan site additions. Copyediting skills are required, though this is not a writing position. An interest in applying emerging web technologies and trends to the SPLC?s mission is appreciated.
Responsibilities
Develop, commission and evaluate web content for editorial and technical integrity
Produce daily content
Format and deploy HTML email
Maintain content schedule
Keep other departments informed of web projects
Interact with the SPLC community in social media
Generate trend reports using web analytics
Requirements
At least one year of online experience
Familiarity with social media
CMS experience (Drupal highly desired)
Competent with HTML for text markup (CSS understanding a plus)
Strong copyediting and proofreading skills
Excellent written communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work on deadline
Understanding of web usability
Candidates with a background in journalism or communications are highly desired.
