About the job
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be an integral member of Mzinga's Engineering team helping to deliver cutting edge web software to an emerging marketplace. You’ll leverage your passion and expertise in social media and software development to enhance Mzinga’s core products and build the next generation platform. This role requires a high degree of creativity, flexibility, and enthusiasm, as well as a high attention to detail and quality results. This is a dynamic, fast paced environment with a focus on quality products and innovation.
Skills Requirements:
You should have in-depth knowledge of:
- Designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing scalable multi-tier web applications;
- At least two of the following: Java, PHP, Ruby, Python, C#, or Objective C;
- Relational databases like PostgresSQL, Oracle, and MySQL;
- Open source technology stacks and modern frameworks;
- Object oriented and procedural programming methodologies;
- Software development life-cycle and best practices;
- Database scaling at the application level and experience with caching approaches;
- Source control systems such as SVN & Git.
In addition to:
- BS/MS in Computer Science and minimum of 7 years work experience;
- Ability to translate business problems into technical solutions, design, code, and test independently as well as work jointly with the team;
- A minimum of 5+ years of production programming;
- Being results-driven with ability to take initiative and meet deadlines in a fast paced changing environment.
Bonus experience:
- HTML, CSS, JavaScript and associated frameworks (jQuery, Prototype, etc);
- Social networking applications and associated design patterns;
- Familiarity with agile methodology.
