A Linux System Administrator works on a small team of Linux administrators to deploy and manage enterprise-class hardware & virtual servers running Red Hat, Debian, and Ubuntu Linux, including supporting production servers, developers, and office functions.
Responsibilities
Work closely with developers and implementation teams to track down infrastructure-related issues.
Manage backups of all servers.
Participate in security auditing of servers.
Occasionally work with customers to troubleshoot connectivity issues.
Be on call 24/7 for infrastructure emergencies one (1) week out of three (3).
Be available for Monday night maintenance windows from 11:30 PM - 3:00 AM.
Requirements
3+ years of professional Linux System Administration experience.
BS degree in Computer Science or related field.
Applicants must demonstrate a complete grasp of security fundamentals from an operating system, networking, and application design perspective.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, with constant communication with entire infrastructure team, including other Linux and Windows administrators, Database administrators, and the Manager of Security.
Desired experience
Virtualization using KVM, Xen, or VMWare.
IBM BladeCenter
SAN / Fiber Channel networking
Ethernet Networking, including Cisco IOS, VLAN management, routing, and PIX/ASA firewalls
Data Center deployment & maintenance
Oracle or other SQL systems
Asterisk or other VoIP systems
