UI Engineer / Front End Developer

This person will be part of the development team; designing and implementing user interfaces for open-source and proprietary web applications.
Essential Function:
- Writing front-end (table less) code in Ruby, XHTML/CSS, and JavaScript.
- To identify, create, and implement radiant/functional UI design.
- Implement new features and optimize existing ones.
- Understanding of browser compatibility issues that currently exist on the web today.
Required Qualifications:
- Fluent in Web Standards for XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and DOM-Scripting is required.
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is required.
- Development in Ruby on Rails and/or other Open Source technologies preferred. (Given that Ruby on Rails is rather new, extensive experience developing web applications in other languages can be substituted as long as a strong desire to work in Ruby exists.)
- Experience with Linux/Unix is required.
- Up to date knowledge of Semantic markup, progressive enhancement, graceful degradation, and web accessibility.
- Proof of relevant experience; portfolios, web page links, work examples are strongly encouraged.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
