UI ENGINEER / FRONT-END DEVELOPER

This person will be part of the development team; designing and implementing user interfaces for open-source and proprietary web applications.
Essential Function:
Writing front-end (table less) code in Ruby, XHTML/CSS, and JavaScript.
To identify, create, and implement radiant/functional UI design.
Implement new features and optimize existing ones.
Understanding of browser compatibility issues that currently exist on the web today.
Required Qualifications:
Fluent in Web Standards for XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and DOM-Scripting is required.
Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is required.
Development in Ruby on Rails and/or other Open Source technologies preferred. (Given that Ruby on Rails is rather new, extensive experience developing web applications in other languages can be substituted as long as a strong desire to work in Ruby exists.)
Experience with Linux/Unix is required.
Up to date knowledge of Semantic markup, progressive enhancement, graceful degradation, and web accessibility.
Proof of relevant experience; portfolios, web page links, work examples are strongly encouraged.
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
