Think you've got the chops to help Gowalla illustrate the world? You will join the inimitable Gowalla Art Department where you will work alongside some of the most talented iconographers and digital artists on the web. You will be responsible for rendering in detailed pixel form the world's most interesting venues, travel destinations, landmarks and architecture according to Gowalla's trademark style guidelines. While we prefer this position to be full-time, on-site in Austin, we will consider remote candidates if your work and work ethic are remarkably excellent.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of icon design experience
- Unmatched Adobe Illustrator or Fireworks skills
- Strong understanding of both vector and raster-based illustration
- Core knowledge and appreciation for the design of small art on screen
- Knowledge of traditional and printed design a plus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where pivoting quickly is essential
- Excitement for creating families of related works for cities, universities and more
- Obsession over detail
- Love for quirky art and popular culture
- Articulate, yet humble, communication skills
