Amazon.com's Entity Team is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Software Engineer to develop and deliver a set of new content initiatives for Amazon as part of the Entity program. As a member of the team, you will be given great opportunities to build platform level features and systems for integrating with authoritative content like Wikipedia, IMDB, DPReview, etc. and bringing the best of the web right on Amazon.com. In this role, you will be driving the customer experience on Amazon.com for consuming content and exploring new paradigms in integrating shopping with content consumption. This will be a significant new initiative at Amazon with far reaching strategic implications for the future of retailing. You will be challenged to solve problems that are unique to Amazon's scale and create solutions that impact millions of customers every day. Qualifications
3+ years industry experience.
Candidates must be self-directed, demonstrate leadership potential and be team players.
Strengths in coding, data structures, algorithms, Object Oriented design and designing for performance, scalability, availability, and internet and OS security fundamentals.
Extensive experience with Java/C++, working with databases (e.g. MySQL, Oracle), scripting languages (e.g. Perl, Ruby).
Significant experience with HTML, JavaScript, AJAX and CSS experience is critical, along with Java/JSP/MVC. JQuery or equivalent framework is a plus.
Be able to thrive in a fast paced, high energy and fun work environment where we're agile (e.g. Scrum) and deliver value incrementally and frequently.
Experience with content acquistion/ingestion/parsing/aggregation, web scraping, crowdsourcing and text data mining and analysis is a positive.
Experience with scalable distributed systems is a positive.
Linux experience preferred.
