The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the worlds finest museums, is seeking a Associate Web Developer in the Digital Media Department. The Associate Web Developer will be responsible for the programming related to the Website's
front-end interface, including programming new online features and front-end
functionality, working with designers to develop new design templates, and handling updates to existing pages or features as needed.

Responsibilities include ensuring cross-platform optimization for new and existing web projects, establishing and enforcing coding standards to maximize efficiency of page maintainability, as well as, complete HTML, XHTML, ASP and ASP.NET production of various new projects.

Successful candidates must be extremely detail-oriented individual with at least , 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in a collaborative, fast-paced, web production environment (developing, supporting, and maintaining large internet sites) as well having the ability to work as part of a collaborative team and the capacity to work independently as required by the assigned task. Successful candidates must also have a strong programming background with knowledge of HTML, XHTML, CSS, ASP, VBScript, and JavaScript, as well as traditional programming skills in a language such as Visual Basic, C++, C#, and/or VB.NET. Familiarity with Photoshop and digital imaging and excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.

BS or BA Degree in Computer Sciences or Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent experience is required. Interest in the arts, photography, art history, museums, and/or cultural affairs is preferred.
