Job Summary:
We are looking for a diligent engineer with proven success in administering large Linux environments. The qualified candidate will ensure production servers are 100% available. The ability to work effectively with multiple technical teams is a necessity for success. Leadership skills are highly desirable with an ultimate commitment to operational excellence.

Responsibilities:
50% - Provide support for systems software and hardware issues for all technical teams within the company.
30% - Provide systems administration and system architectural experience in support of Highwinds Linux infrastructure.
10% - Develop, enhance and maintain systems and software.
5% - Organize and lead training sessions for Highwinds personnel that work with our product offerings.
5% - Selection, evaluation, and integration of new hardware and software standards for Highwinds Systems in cooperation with other engineering groups.
Qualifications:
Mandatory
• At least 3 years demonstrated experience in managing multi-vendor Linux server system installations.
• At least 3 years working knowledge of Linux file systems (nfs/zfs),backup methodologies, device configuration, systems logging and exception diagnosis.
• At least 3 years demonstrated knowledge of Perl, PHP and Linux shell programming techniques as related to Internet applications design, network management and Linux systems management. In addition, 2 years of working knowledge of UNIX systems utilities (e.g., bash, sh, sed, awk, rcs, and svn.)
• At least 3 years working knowledge of the IP protocol suite, specifically relating to the applications and services that run above these protocols: SSH, NNTP, DNS, SMTP, IMAP, HTTP/HTML, FTP.
• Demonstrated ability to design and code critical systems projects. Ability to think creatively and communicate accurately. Demonstrated customer service experience.
• Strong abilities in software and systems testing and debugging.
Desired
• At least 3 years experience writing technical documents and procedures for engineering groups.
