Workshare Technology is seeking a User Experience Architect to develop and maintain Workshare software while adhering to Workshare quality standards. This person will work as part of a team of developers, or individually, to prototype, analyse, design and implement web based user experiences. They are expected to work independently in order to diagnose and scope issues. They are expected to mentor other members of the department. They should be pro-active and provide input and feedback to both departmental discussions and issues relating to other departments.
Position Responsibilities:
70% -
- Scope and implement new Workshare software
- Improve and maintain existing Workshare products
- Investigate, debug and summarize issues within Workshare software
- Act as the user-advocate during the development process, subjecting early-stage development artifacts to usability testing or expert review, and providing design and implementation direction from a user-centered perspective
- Gather business requirements and define business objectives for user interfaces
- Develop wireframes, behavioral specifications and personas
20% -
- Mentor other members of the development team
- Act as "go to" with in-depth knowledge of interfaces and experiences

- Pro-actively develop understanding of the Workshare product architecture
- Follow established Workshare processes and adhere to formal coding standards
- Maintain an efficient and professional relationship with other departments and provide feedback to current Workshare processes as necessary
Job Specifications
- Research the competitive landscape and make recommendations relating to website functionality
- Utilize usability-related research services, theories and methodologies to support your recommendations
- Ability to work independently in order to investigate and scope specified tasks
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate ideas in both written and verbal forms
- Applied knowledge of web technologies such as (X)HTML, CSS, MCML (Flex), JavaScript, JQuery, ASP.NET MVC, ActionScript
- Applied knowledge of designing web assets using Photoshop
- Applied knowledge of programming languages (C++, C#), extensions (COM/STL/ATL/MFC) and the MS Visual Studio environment on the client platform or IIS, ASP.NET, SQL Server 2005 or higher, SMTP Servers, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 or later on the platform server
- Ability to write concise and coherent documentation
- Ability to use a wide variety of tools and techniques for tracking the cause of a problem and debugging
- Ability to learn, and interest in learning and using new technologies (WPF, WCF, Linq, WiX, Blueprint CSS)
- Applied knowledge of source control and unit testing strategies and technologies
