Responsibilities
Opera’s Developer Relations team is looking for Web Openers who will help promote cross-browser coding practices, making the Web available to everyone on any device. Based on feedback from users, testers and engineers you will contact large as well as smaller Web sites and advise them on how to improve their code for maximum compatibility and device independence. You must have insights into the underlying technology, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of the commercial and social aspects of the Web. The job also involves providing support for Web developers, Opera’s developer customers and its internal engineers through community evangelism, developer outreach, and networking.
Skills
- Excellent knowledge of, and passion for, Web standards (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and the development community that surrounds them.
- Excellent writing, e-mail etiquette and diplomacy skills.
- Fluency in English, written and verbal.
- Ability to learn quickly and work without supervision. Willingness to travel.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Good familiarity with the Web browser competitive landscape.
Ideals (one or more)
- Fluency in one of the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, French, Arabic or Chinese.
- Experience with mobile development, Widgets and SVG.
- Being well-connected in the Web industry
