Job Summary
This position is in AOLs Living group part of the acclaimed Media division where we are creating some of the most exciting, engaging, entertaining, and cutting edge web sites in our industry. If you are interested in working in high visibility consumer transaction based web properties that in total reach over 70 million customers per month, then this is an exciting and rewarding place to be.
You will design, build, and deliver medium to large-scale, highly dynamic website experiences in a team environment. You will own major deliverables and participate in all aspects of the development cycle: scoping, design, implementation, testing, etc. You will get a chance to exercise your creativity and judgment in helping to determine and recommend the most efficient designs based on business objectives, time lines and resource constraints.
Responsibilities
Designs, develops, troubleshoots, debugs and implements software for meeting project requirements
Divides software development work into logical pieces for lower level engineers to work on.
Owns full life cycle of development for a component of a product, system or project.
Effectively communicates technical aspects of the job to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Develops and optimizes web page infrastructure and applications related to pages with advanced graphics and features.
Investigates and assures web site technical performance and optimization.
Solves priority problems in products that need to be resolved before installing to production
Understands, effectively uses, and may coach lower level engineers on AOL technical tools, applications, web standards and procedures.
Understands and performs/runs code reviews.
Understands how groups activities fit with other groups and the entire product.
Developing processes and methodologies to deliver quality work.
Qualifications / Experience
Bachelors degree or equivalent
4 to 6 years of directly related experience
Solid experience with Java, SQL, HTTP connections. Experience with MySQL, ETL (Talend) and SOLR a plus.
Demonstrates experience developing web pages including the ability to effectively communicate and receive ideas with UI /visual designers, back-end developers, quality assurance, product managers and business users.
Mastery of XHTML, CSS and efficient use of industry standards.
Comprehensive knowledge of using Javascript and jQuery, JSON, DOM manipulation and browser compatibilities.
Good knowledge of data exchange and manipulation technologies XML, XML Schemas, XMLBeans, XSLT, XPath and other data exchange technologies.
Experience in working in a fast pace Agile software development lifecycle model.
Have a strong can do attitude and able to work closely with people and manage change in a productive responsible manner.
