Fog Creek Software is looking for a kickass Systems Engineer/Hacker/Administrator. On our team, you'll be working with top-notch developers and support engineers on the infrastructure behind our SaaS applications like FogBugz On Demand, Copilot, and Kiln.
We used to have a list of technologies here that you might see in our environment, but this gave the impression that we were looking for a nicely matching set of keywords. We're not. Being a Systems Administrator is not about degrees, certifications, or specific past experience. It's about learning fast, it's about having a strong understanding of the principles underlying your systems, and it's about a love for hacking.
Requirements
* Fantastic scripting skills. Why do things twice when you can just automate it the first time?
* Excellent grasp of networking. You know the TCP/IP stack and OSI model inside out.
* Absolutely fearless when diving into a new problem.
* A remarkable ability to make just about anything work, even when the only documentation is the source code and you're at the far end of a 1200 baud telnet link.
* Excellent command of written and spoken English.
* Permanent legal right to work in the US.
* Willing to work in our New York City office. No telecommuting.
Benefits
* Competitive salary
* Free gym membership
* Free MetroCard
* Free lunch
* Free soft drinks and snacks
* Comprehensive health insurance plan
* 401(k) retirement plan with matching
* Stock plan
* Generous parental leave policy
* Flextime
* Four weeks paid vacation
