NAFSA: Association of International Educators, the leading association advocating for international education and exchange, seeks an ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR GOVERNMENT RELATIONS to join our advocacy team. Responsibilities include assuming lead responsibility on portfolio of international education issues; working closely with colleagues to develop and execute an effective Hill strategy; working with Congress to achieve NAFSA's advocacy objectives; and policy analysis, issue management, consensus building, and direct advocacy. Minimum requirements: BA in appropriate field, 4-6 years demonstrated effectiveness in advocacy or public policy, strong knowledge of the policy process, Congress, and federal agencies; success in managing a diverse portfolio of issues; excellent written, oral, organizational and political skills; high level of independent decision making, initiative, creative problem-solving, attention to detail, and discretion; and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, under pressure, and meet deadlines. Commitment to the association's advocacy agenda is essential. Preferred experience: Advocacy/policy work with Departments of Homeland Security, State, or Education and/or experience with immigration, education, study abroad and/or appropriations issues. Grade, title and salary will be commensurate with experience.
