As a member of Amazon's Retail Systems team, you'll help to drive Amazon's Retail business, the bread and butter of Amazon. Teams that make up Retail Systems include Demand Forecasting, Catalog, Pricing, Procurement, and Vendor Information Services. You will solve technical challenges in large webscale computing, distributed systems, web applications, data mining, optimization, scalability, security, and algorithms.

The Retail Systems Platform Team

The goal of the Retail Systems Platform team is to use the concept of workflows to tie together the functionality of different areas of Retail Systems into a seamless workflow. In the Retail Systems Platform team, you will be regularly exposed to all of the challenges and opportunities described above. In addition, you will drive the future of development within Retail Systems by using the best tools available, including Amazon's web services and 3rd party solutions. There are opportunities aplenty in both application and platform development, and the sky is the limit for where you can take us.


Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of CS fundamentals and coding, preferably with a degree in BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
- Rich hands-on experience in C++ and/or Java and UNIX tools with a deep and proven understanding of object oriented design
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and designing for performance, scalability, and availability
- Deep understanding of distributed systems and multi-threaded programming
- Knowledge in SQL, Perl, XML, and Web services are a plus
- Experience with Oracle databases and user interface design/development are highly desired
- Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
- Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast-paced environment
