About us
We're
a cloud-based platform for location-based applications. In a nutshell,
we help developers and businesses make sense of location. The company
was founded in May 2009 by Matt Galligan and Joe Stump, and consists
primarily of 13 senior engineers who have worked on some of the
largest, most trafficked sites on the internet, including Six Apart,
Pownce, Flickr, Digg, and EventBrite. We're one of the best places to
work for someone looking for opportunity to learn about scaling,
infrastructure, APIs, and cloud computing from some of the best in the
industry.
About you
You're meticulous and
methodical about your code. You care about web design and UI down to
the pixel and aren?t satisfied until what you?re building is perfect.
You understand design principles well enough to give great feedback and
aren?t afraid to speak up when you have it to give. You?re autonomous,
self-starting and reliable. You have a great attitude, a warrior-like
work ethic, and don?t get easily upset by the occasional, relatively
painless office prank. You're comfortable and experienced working with
a small team in a fast-paced environment.
You should have:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience under your belt (or proof that you can kick ass with less).
- Expert-level proficiency in HTML, CSS and JS.
- A mastery of Photoshop for front-end programming related tasks (cutting up images, measuring, picking colors, etc)
- Experience working with Git, GitHub, and Agile methodologies.
- A strong portfolio of work, which you?ll be grilled on by Ian. Be ready.
- A serious interest in what SimpleGeo does and a minimally baseline understanding of the geo space.
- A California driver?s license (the position is in SF ? so if you don?t live here, you must be willing to relocate, which we?ll help pay for)
We?d prefer that you have:
- Experience working with Python/Django, or a willingness (and capacity) to learn the basics.
- Side projects that don?t interfere with your day job.
